Eva Smith is a mixed media artist from San Francisco, CA. After earning a BA in Visual Art from the University of California Santa Barbara, Eva has shifted her focus from digital collage and photography to textile work. She is inspired by artists such as Kunié Sugiura and the way that alternative processes can create abstraction. 

Eva creates pieces that synthesize the beauty of man made and natural materials. She is interested in the way time, light, and earth influence the singularity of each piece. Quilting, for her, is a way to piece together fragments of memory and place. Eva’s work centers around found objects and photographic elements that allow each piece to carry traces of everyday life and honor the resourceful history of quiltmaking.
